Paynesville

Paynesville is situated in the heart of the Gippsland Lakes and is commonly known as the "Boating Capital of Victoria". Its plentiful waterways of lakes, rivers and surf provides ample opportunity for boating, fishing and varied water activities.

Paynesville is an ideal family holiday destination with no through traffic and where walking or riding bikes has become a way of life. Its friendly waters are enhanced by dolphins, pelicans, swans and many more species of wildlife.

Raymond Island

Access is gained by a car ferry crossing, or a boat ride across the McMillan Straits. Tranquility and isolation of the Island appeals to those who wish to get away form the hustle and bustle of modern living. Scattered around the island are toilets for your convenience and also several barbecue and picnic areas, all of which offer magnificent water views and safe swimming areas.

Raymond Island has a large natural bush area which plays host to many varieties of flora and fauna and a unique koala population as well as parrots and many other native birds. Another unique attraction to the Island is the Miniature Animal Farm which is wonderful entertainment for the kids or the kids-at-heart.

Eagle Point

The famous Mitchell River Silt Jetties are found at Eagle Point. These remarkable sand spits are second longest in the world, extending almost eight kilometres into Lake King from the cliffs at The Bluff. Eagle Point is also known for its fishing - both in Lake King and he Mitchell River. Short walks are available through a shaded fauna park to the cool river mouth gully or up to the historic Bluff Lookout.

Paynesville is just 3.5 hours from Melbourne.
